Who we are

Sophie Wales

Sophie joined DM in August 2019 as a senior associate, reuniting with her former colleague Kate after completing over 11 years in practice in a large, regional law firm. Sophie thoroughly enjoys her area of specialism and is passionate about providing a personable and professional service to all clients. Recently noted as an associate to watch in a top legal directory, clients say that Sophie is ‘delightful – easy to talk to and extremely proficient at her job’ and ‘on the ball, quick to react, very approachable with a clear understanding of the client’s situation’.

Sophie advises on all aspects of estate planning and succession matters including Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection applications and estate administrations. Sophie has also developed a specialism and reputation for advising on all types of trust work, both in terms of creation and ongoing administration. Sophie is particularly experienced in advising on trusts for vulnerable individuals and personal injury trusts to ring-fence awards of compensation and has been responsible for creating and overseeing several multi-million pound settlements for clients. Sophie’s approachable and pro-active qualities make her an invaluable pillar of support to her clients and enables her to build long-lasting relationships with clients and their families, also encapsulating DM’s core values.

Sophie is a fully, accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly and trained Dementia Friend for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Most of Sophie’s spare time is taken up with managing the social lives of her two children but when she does get a spare minute to herself enjoys running and pilates.
